Glasgow - World's Friendliest City

We love Glasgow, the biggest city in Scotland and a thriving hub of music, arts and culture
bursting with personality. Voted the world's friendliest city for the second time in 2021 by
Rough Guides readers, having also won in 2014. So, if there’s one thing you can be sure of it’s
lots of friendly faces and welcoming patter.

There’s much to be discovered in this diverse city - an eclectic and very cool music scene,
stunning architecture, gritty history, world-class shopping, as well as having earned the
reputation as a gastronomic hot spot. It’s clear to see why Glasgow has become such a popular
destination for a city break or corporate stay.

The Emirates Arena just east of the city centre was built in 2014 to host the Commonwealth
Games. Its jewel in the crown is the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, as well as offering world class
health and fitness facilities.

The OVO Hydro, formerly known as the SSE Hydro is the largest entertainment venue in
Scotland. It’s no stranger to hosting some of the biggest names in the music, arts and comedy
scene. This year will see the likes of Kevin Bridges to Diana Ross perform. Hampden Park is a
hop, skip and a jump over the Clyde Bridge, and this summer will welcome some of the biggest
names in the music industry including Coldplay and Liam Gallagher, as well as hosting a few of
the nations league football games. It’s all happening in Glasgow.

Both our Destiny Scotland Glasgow apartments have enviable locations in the city center, just a
few minutes walk from Queen St Station and Merchant City. Short and long term lets are
available and our apartments sleep between 2 to 4 guests. Ideal for leisure and corporate

Our Nelson Mandela Place apartment is a beautifully converted A Grade property boasting
superior interiors. A fully serviced studio apartment that sleeps up to 2 guests, equipped with

baby cot if needed. Queen Street station is a 5 minute walk, and just a few steps from the
apartment is Buchanan Street, a bustling lively street with shops, bars and restaurants a plenty.
You may be curious why the name Nelson Mandela Place? Cool story - in 1981 whilst Mandela
was still imprisoned on Robben Island under the South African apartheid regime, he was
awarded the Freedom of the city of Glasgow. Glasgow City Council supported the campaign to
free Nelson Mandela by renaming the street in honour of the political prisoner in 1986, much to
the annoyance of the South African consulate.

For those less able please note there is no lift access to the apartment.

Our Glassford Residence offers 8 bright modern serviced apartments including studios, and 1
and 2 bedroom apartments. Available for short and long stays each apartment is fully equipped
and boasts superior interiors. Glassford Residence is located in the Merchant City, a thriving
shopping and leisure area, mirroring Covent Garden in the West End of London. The apartments
are the perfect choice for leisure and corporate guests who want to be in the hub of the city,
with easy access to public transport.

The lift functions from the ground floor to all floors.
